Industry leaders from across North America and the world, gathered at the 33rd annual edition of "Luggage, Leathergoods & Accesories Show (LLHA), which was held at the Toronto Congress Centre, Canada, from the 21st of April to the 23rd. The event showcased the latest trends and innovations in the industry of fashion and travel accessories, where a large number of national and international companies presented their latest collections.
LLHA represents the only event of its kind conducted in Canada. The Free Zones Council participated for the first time, in order to better understand the market, and promote the industries that operates in the Dominican Republic.
The activity was attended by representatives of the industry in Canada as well as the United States and other countries. Speakers and exhibitors presented on the latest market trends and fashion travel articles, handbags and accessories, with a special focus on products manufactured with environmentally friendly materials.
The luggage and leather goods industry in Canada, generated in 2011 more than $1.9 billion dollars in sales and experienced a significant growth in 2012, according to Paul Hanley, President of the LLHA. In 2012 the Canadian industry recorded an increase of 22.5% in the luggage sales, 21.3% in bags and purses, 18.1% in the wallets segment and 35.8% in backpacks.
The mission of the Association of Industries of luggage, leather goods, bags and accessories of Canada (LLHA) is to promote the growth of the industry, coordinating all manufacturers, distributors, importers, wholesalers, agents and retailers.
Our Executive Director, Luisa Fernández Duran, participated in this event, accompanied by experts from the promotion and investments areas, who provided information on incentives and facilities offered by Law 8-90, that regulates the Free Zones in the Dominican Republic.
Executives of the institution held meetings with representatives of Samsonite Canada, Derek Alexander Group, Auslini, ROEL, Castus Creek, Delsey, Roots, Aci Brands, House of Kangaroo among others companies.
